Day 29: July 26, 2005
Yellowstone Park

Upon entering the park, all guests are given this dire warning.

A kid is hilariously depicted being owned by a geyser. Don't leave the trail, kids!

Colorful sulfurous formations.

A view of the sulfur springs.

Yellowstone has been ravaged by numerous forest fires. The whole place looked like this.

You'd think a serious traffic accident would have caused this hour-long delay...

But it was just people rubbernecking for buffalo.

They look delicious!

A bright turquoise hot spring.

A steaming, sputtering geyser.

Trees and springs full o' colorful bacteria and junk.

Rippling and bubbling with geothermal activity.

A darker, muddier spring.

Bent burnt trees near the boardwalk.

Pastel pools.

Closer look at a geothermal pool.

Another bright spring.

Uncle Nops takes a closer look at a vent.

A multicolored landscape.

T-neck hangs out in a sulfur steam bath. Smells delicious!

A bubbling mud pit. You have to hear these things to get the full effect. It's the Earth's anus.

Varicolored springs.

It took 34,000 shots to get this thing while it was erupting.

The fearless geyser was too cowardly to show its face.

Boiling hot hot hot! Or cold.

Through the trees and down to the valley.

Red soil and blue pools.

The real Bog of Eternal Stench. Exactly the same in all ways.

Did you know people didn't believe the guy who discovered this place?

View up towards where we took that last picture.

Distant geyser activity.

Closer up.

A few more geysers.

"Yeah, true love is the greatest thing in the world, except for a nice MLT--mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, when the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky. I love that. But that's not what he said. He distinctly said 'To blave', and as we all know, to blave means to bluff, heh? So you were probably playing cards, and he cheated."

Old Faithful was a little less impressive than I exp--

Woah, holy shit!

I made this crappy animated gif from all our Old Faithful pictures.

We passed by Yellowstone Lake on the way back east.

More views of the lake.

9999.9 miles! Next comes...

0.0?? We drove so far we broke the odometer.

A last shot of Yellowstone Lake.

Took these shots to document the re-growth in Yellowstone forests.

Back to Wyoming
