Day 32: July 29, 2005
Kentucky

Unbridled Spirit. This is creepy considering we're in Kentucky. I hear banjos.

Typical Kentucky scenery. Like Iowa, but more billboards.

So we're driving along the highway and see a sign for the Jefferson Davis Memorial. It's a bit out of the way, but sounds "interesting" so we decide to check it out. This little plaque isn't such a bad memorial I guess, even though we're talking about a guy who led a rebellion predicated on enslaving an entire race of people, but it's not like he was Hitler exactly and WHAT...

...you're kidding.

Yes, they ripped off the Washington Monument for Davis. I guess he *was* a first president... And last. For now...

Next: Tennessee
