Day 18: Yosemite National Park

A pristine mountain lake.

Another view across the lake.

Bessie cools off her engine after Death Valley.

Yosemite fields.

A raging river in Yosemite.

The road winds down into the valley.

We stop every so often at the scenic spots, but it's starting to get dark.

Some rocky bluffs.

Stone peaks over Yosemite forests. I think I see Muir sitting up there!

Rocks meet the road.

Twilight over Yosemite.

Some nice pink wildflowers.

Day 19: July 16, 2005

We found a campsite right outside the park for like $12. Unfortunately, our efforts to make an awesome sandwich with tortillas and every kind of cold cut known to man failed when the only store in town didn't have working credit card machines. Gas station hoagies with slim jims and chips in them were a good replacement.

Mossy trees back in Yosemite. I tried t get a lot of good pictures of these, but the ones in Washington put them to shame.

Remnants of a past fire.

One of several waterfalls in Yosemite Valley.

Striking Valley scenery.

El Capitan, the famous mountain featured on the John Muir quarter.

Another waterfall.

Some cool redwoods on the trail.

An there it is--Yosemite Falls, highest waterfall on the continent and featured in Soarin', the exciting new attraction at the Happiest Celebration On Earth!

Uncle Hops chillaxes at the base of the waterfall.

I tried getting a picture of the bridge with no people on it. This was the best I could do.

Back To California
